@Mandalorian_Ren 1) Yes and no... Actually, the USA doesn't have political parties, stricto sensu. It has coalitions. These coalitions were established so long ago and they are so sclerotic and inflexible that they left no room for actual political parties.
@Mandalorian_Ren 2) Pick a country. Any country (most have multiple parties that coalesce into coalitions close to elections). Portugal, for example. The PNR is a far right extremist political party that would celebrate trumpet and push even farther to the right:

@Mandalorian_Ren 3) Democracies are supposed to have horrendous, hideous political parties because they represent a part of that society that is actually horrendous and hideous. They are usually small. When they are accepted into a coalition (IF they are...), they have little power to ..
@Mandalorian_Ren 4) ... negotiate surreal hideous platform items. So you end up with two coalitions and tiny independent runners at the border, which will manage to elect representatives and still be a pain in the ass. But the coalitions tend to be more sober.
@Mandalorian_Ren 5) We used to call the USA an "exception" in pluralistic democracy. It's actually more of an aberration. The problem is that we never saw *this* coming. We never saw the Tea party coming.
@Mandalorian_Ren 6) We never thought what was supposed to be the center-right coalition to adopt a far right extremist aspect.
@Mandalorian_Ren 7) let's keep this for later. Otherwise I'll forget:
