The numbers published by WHO have significant lag-time. Using @BNONews for real-time
The number of nations affected remains officially at 15. There are numerous suspected cases all over the globe and as such we just don’t have a very accurate grasp of how extensive or not #coronavirus outbreak is right now.
Recommendations and focus of public health officials remains unchanged from yesterday’s #SITREP. Universal Precautions remains the policy and no upgrade to droplet precautions outside of immediate contamination zones are being recommended.

If Maldives does not do this & test passengers off the flight first, it will already be too late if a patient had made it the ground into the arrival terminal. The camera heat scan should be secondary test. Avoid possible tragedy. @ibusolih @MohamedNasheed @ameenex #coronovirus
I think it's important that everyone arriving into the country from destinations that's already reported as having confirmed cases of infection, must not be allowed off the plane before a first round of screening is carried out by public health officials wearing hazmat suits.
If anyone is tested for a flu, the whole plane and the people inside has to be quarantined or sent back to the destination it has come from. This is extremely inconvenient and will have an detriment on the economy. But it's also temporary in light of the evolving situation.

Coronavirus: How #China's increasing global power could be influencing global virus response

Many experts expected the WHO to declare a global health crisis this week, which would see emergency measures put in place.

“The criteria for declaring a public health emergency of international concern have been met,” said Yanzhong Huang, a fellow for global health at the Council on Foreign Relations.

But “not all WHO decisions are made based on the developments in the biological world,” he added.
Under Chinese pressure, WHO also excluded the self-ruled island of Taiwan from the World Health Assembly, and from receiving global health advice for the last three years.

She added that she believed the WHO will come to "deeply regret" the decision not to declare a crisis.
