2020 SENATE THREAD: There are 23 GOP Senate seats up for grabs this year. I will to the best of my ability give you all the pertinent information available for each reelection bid, so you can ensure that these Senators, who are aiding an authoritarian regime are voted out.
Dan Sullivan, junior senator from Alaska serving alongside Murkowski since 2015 and endorsed by Trump in his current reelection bid. No Democrat has filed to run against him and David Matheny filed as an independent. Deadline is 06/01 and primaries (if there are any) begin 08/18.
Tom Cotton, junior senator from Arkansas serving since 2015. He has received support from the Tea Party movement and is currently trying to stir panic with the recent coronavirus outbreak. @DanWhitCongress is his opponent.👆 Donate and vote for his campaign.
Arizona will be holding special elections to fill the rest of McCain's 2017-2022 term. Martha McSally is the incumbent appointed by Gov. Ducey in December 2018. The current Democratic primary has Mohammad Arif, Sheila Bilyeu, Juan Angel Vazquez, and Mark Kelly. Vote for them.
Cory Gardner from Colorado serving since 2015 will be alongside Trump later this month in his Colorado Springs rally. The Democratic primary is filled with too many candidates. Recommend voting @lorenaforsenate, @StephanyForCO, and/or @trish_zornio on 06/30.
David Perdue, senior senator from Georgia and is currently holding a fundraising lead over all Democrats in the primary. There are too many to name so I'll recommend a few: @amun4senate, @MarckeithD, and @teresatomlinson. Primary election is on May 19th. Make history Georgia.
Georgia will also hold special elections for former senator Isakson's seat currently being filled by Kelly Loeffler. My previous recommendations also apply here.
Jim Risch has been Idaho's senator since 2009, recently criticized in the media for sleeping during the Senate impeachment proceedings. The Democratic primary candidates are @realTravisOler, Nancy Harris, and @votevandermaas. Primary election is on May 19th.
Joni Ernst, junior Senator from Iowa who votes with Trump 91.1% of the time. Primary elections take place June 02. Democratic primary field: @FrankenforIowa, @KimberlyforIowa, @GreenfieldIowa, @eddiejmauro, and Cal Woods. No personal recommendation here, just get Ernst out.
Kansas will be holding an election after Pat Roberts announced his retirement last month. The Democratic primary field consists of @BarbaraBollier, @ReddiForSenate, Adam Smith, and Robert Tillman. Primary election is August 04.
Kentucky's #MoscowMitch is running for reelection with no signs of calling it quits until the Grim Reaper comes knocking. The primary election will take place on May 19th. Many candidates are running but I personally recommend @EricRothmuller and @ElectMojo.
Bill Cassidy is the junior GOP senator from Louisiana since 2015, being the first Republican to occupy the seat since Reconstruction. As of the date of this post, only @AntoinePierce has filed for candidacy under the Democratic party. Deadline is July 17th.
"Moderate" Maine senator Susan Collins is also up for reelection with Maine House Speaker @SaraGideon, @BeeKay4ME, @RossforMaine, and @BetsySweetME. Primary election takes place June 09.
Cindy Hyde-Smith from Mississippi has been in office since 2018, after winning a special election to complete Cochran's term. The Democratic primary consists of @tobeybbartee, @BohrenJensen, and her 2018 opponent Mike Epsy. Recommend Jensen and Tobey over Mike.
Steve Daines of Montana assumed office in 2015 after winning an open seat election. The Democratic party candidates include @CollinsWilmot, @KnolesMichael (preferred), @MuesforMontana, and @CoraforMT. Deadline is in March and primary election takes place June 02.
Next up is channeling Jack Nicholson Joker, Thom Tillis from North Carolina. The primary is on March 03 therefore here are your Democratic candidates: @CalforNC, @fullerfornc, @AtulGoel4Senate, @EricaforUSSen20, and Steve Swenson.
Ben "Sassy" Sasse from Nebraska, who originally opposed Trump in 2016 but now votes 86.8% of the time in line with Trump and has received his endorsement for 2020 is up. Democratic primary field includes @CJSenate2020, @AngieForNe, and @Shelton4Senate. Primary election on May 12
Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma has been in politics since the House of Burgesses was first established. Though it is not known if he will seek reelection, it's time for new blood. The candidates for the Democratic primary are @ElysabethBritt and @abbybroyles.
Former Trump opponent turned lover Lindsey Graham is up for reelection in South Carolina. The Democratic primary field includes former South Carolina Democratic Party chair @harrisonjaime, @WillStone2020, @JustinWootonSC, and Matthew Knights. Primary election takes place June 09.
This confused marsupial is senator Mike Rounds from South Dakota, who was one of 22 senators that urged Trump to leave the Paris Agreement as well as acquitting Trump in his impeachment trial. Democratic candidates include @ahlers_dan and Clara Hart. Filing deadline is in March.
Fellow House of Burgesses member Lamar Alexander has finally called it quits and cemented his centuries long legacy in politics by acquitting Trump. Here is the future of Tennessee: @Bradshaw2020, @James_Mackler, @dianafortn. Filing deadline ends April 2.
Everything in Texas is big and this includes the primaries which elections are on March 03. Democrats running against John Cornyn include: @BellForSenate, @Cooper4Texas, @AmandaForTexas, @RunAnnieRun2, @mjhegar, @Sema4Texas, @TxReason, @cristinafortx, and @RoyceWestTX
Never trust a person wearing yellow especially if that person is Shelley M. Capito of West Virginia. The Democratic primary candidates include Richard Ojeda, Richie Robb, and Paula Jean Swearingin. Primary election takes place on May 12.
Last but not least is Mike Enzi from Wyoming who is also retiring. The filing deadline is May 29 so there is still time for more candidates. At the time of this post, the Democratic primary candidates are @ForWyo, Merav Ben-David, and Chuck Jagoda.
NOTE: Some names were left out, particularly Republican primary candidates, independent or unaffiliated, those who did not have a campaign Twitter account, or too many candidates to fit in one tweet. The ones I recommended represent personal choices. Remember the goal.
