@av_anuasha Growing with the name Varghese was tough.. among christian communities, the grand fathers name was often given to the kids.. it was so easy to trace back the names. Anyone can guess my dads name and then even go back 3 generations..
@av_anuasha My Sunday school teacher once asked who gave me this long name.. it was difficult to even say it correctly. There were all the different names.. varghese, verghese, vaaargees, Vargis and then some even called nargis.. it was tough to live with this name..
@av_anuasha I felt insulted coz it was a family name.. I decided that it was enough of name calling and in college.. friends started calling me with my surname.. it was short and everyone liked it.. the problem was when friends use to call him they would ask for thomas..
@av_anuasha Mom would think it was for dad and then it became a normal thing.. couple of times, dad even spoke to my friends thinking it was a call for him.. so many memories.. when i moved out. people started using the first name again. At least People apologize if they don’t get it right
