It's #Oscars time, and here's my recap and predictions, for what it's worth (which is nothing!).

Been a particularly good movie and movie watching year, had the privilege of watching almost all the nominees across categories.

Recap of best movie nominees.
It was a traditional year in terms of very heavily back loaded nominees, with the earliest nominated best picture being Once Upon A Time In Hollywood which released in July, while 8/9 released in the festival circuit season of Oct-Dec.
This is not meant to be a trivia thread, but of course Oscars trivia are a genre of their own, and you MUST follow @BensOscarMath for that stuff. He's so good and so thorough that I won't even attempt to create any new nuggets. His Twitter feed is a necessary companion tonight.

Every Friday I post a One Good Thing message asking people to post one positive, happy things from their lives no matter how big or small.

I seldom post my own largely because I don’t want to distract from others’ contributions.

Today, I’m posting one of my own.

I’ll do it here away from that thread (which, as always, will come later today).

This has been a particularly good week for me. Some understatement there.

I filled my gas tank and got a haircut and stocked my son with warm clothes and a jacket that fits like a glove.

I fell asleep next to him on his bed after talking until we both just conked out.

I took him out to dinner at a little hole-in-the-wall Cuban place that he picked.

I ordered a braised oxtail for both of us. He ordered the rest. Garlic shrimp, roast pork, flan.

Hollywood elites don’t literally say blacks are subhuman. But while “racism” once referred only to a doctrine that some races are genetically inferior, the word has evolved. “Racism” can refer to ideologies that ask a race to check its *ethnicity* (i.e. culture) at the door.
