Sessions did not recuse himself on his first day.
Also, Trump saying Sessions lacked the courage to end the Russia probe both confirms his mindset captured in Mueller’s obstruction report when pressured Sessions to shut down the probe — and it’s an indirect comment on Barr.
Barr broke from Mueller by saying that Trump’s tweets could not be considered obstructive behavior because they were done publicly.

Which in hindsight makes his recent comments about Trump’s tweets making it “impossible” to do his job pretty interesting.
