Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin is being questioned right now for a Senate Finance hearing on Trump's 2021 fiscal year budget.

Senator @RonWyden asks him about greenlighting GOP inquiries stonewalling Democratic requests, like his one on Halkbank.

@RonWyden Wyden: "It sure looks like Erdogan and his son-in-law have been personally implicated in it," referring to the money laundering scandal involving Turkey's state-run Halkbank.
Noting Mnuchin has held seven separate meetings with Erdogan and top Turkish officials, Wyden asks if it's "open season" for accused violators of U.S. sanctions against Iran.

Mnuchin refuses to disclose information about his meetings about Halkbank.

Context for this remark, in which Bloomberg boasted about backing 21 Dems to flip the House:

Bloomberg appears to have been referring to his super-PAC Independence USA, which does not coordinate with campaigns.

Its release lists the supported candidates: independenceusapac.org/News/democrati…
As a super-PAC, Independence USA would have been barred from coordinating with these candidates and touted its TV ads in support of Democrats generally in 24 districts.

So contrary to his slip, Bloomberg did not actually pay these candidates directly. He supported them through a vehicle that forbids coordination.

"Bought"? No. "Got?" Likely exaggerated. A better word would have been "helped."
