Tom Harkin won Iowa.
Paul Tsongas--a very left guy--won NH.
Jerry Brown won Maine.
Bob Kerry won South Dakota.
Nobody dropped out of the race.
Then Bill Clinton won Georgia.

Iowa and NH are very white. NH is only 1% black. I've been writing about this whiteness problem for 20yrs, in part because I live in one of the most racially diverse cities in America and we never get to choose the nominee because we don't vote until April.

This primary is far from over. There are 55 more states and territories left to vote. Read up on the candidates. Find out why all the newspaper endorsements are going to the women. Look closely at policy. Every one of the top six beats Trump, so electability isn't a concern.

I'm a reporter so I know about clickbait headlines. Resist those. Donate to your candidates, phone bank, canvass. Get folks registered to vote. Check your own registration. The nomination is not anyone's yet.Buttigieg may be leading & Bernie a hair away, but what about Nevada?

NH voting was up.
Iowa was down.
Neither is a litmus.
The key thing about winning is you have to show up. You have to be registered and you have to vote.
Vote like it is critically important, because it is. Vote for who matters to you. Reject the narratives for your vote.

Think about that 1992 primary. Jerry Brown just ended his second two-terms as governor of CA in 2018. Tom Harkin was in the Senate until just a few years ago. These men didn't disappear. Paul Tsongas was an amazing man who died too soon in 1997.

There is a lot of tension out here--on Twitter and IRL. Trump generates much of it. We can break that cycle by focusing on what our candidates have to offer and why we support them. We can get to a nominee without damaging the party and we can displace Trump. Let's do it.
