It’s easy for some people to say stop and frisk was a necessarily evil when you’ve never, or have never even had to imagine, the humiliation of having your skin, your body, and your entire community stripped of its dignity & its autonomy.
It’s worth it, I think, for ppl just to engage in the mental excercie of imagining how long a policy that subjected white ppl to the possibility of being searched, assaulted, & thrown against a wall every time they went outside *in their own community* would be allowed to stand.
I think some people who haven’t experienced it, think of stop & frisk merely as merely an inconvenience rather than a source of deep fear & degradation.
