Quick primer on intelligence to understand what Durham is looking at when probing the “Russia investigation”
HUMINT=Human Intelligence
SIGING=Signals Intelligence
HUMINT comes from informants/other humans sources and is by definition subjective
SIGINT is relatively objective /1

SIGINT is raw data such as documents, intercepts, calls, emails, photographs. So if authentic, SIGINT is relatively trustworthy.
HUMINT is tricky. One has to consider the motivation of the human source, their understanding of the situation etc.
HUMINT is basically hearsay. /2

That’s why HUMINT needs to be verified carefully. Standard requirement is at least two sources, who are long-term and reliable. Ideally corroborated by SIGINT.
Once Intelligence is collected, it goes to analysts (see my threads on Intelligence Cycle). /3

Analysis is another crucial point in the cycle. CIA/FBI analysts are supposed to be completely independent. They must analyse the intelligence collected in a completely neutral way and either reject it, or put forward for dissemination. Sometimes more information is requested. /4

Immediately, we can see a number of big issues with the “Russia investigation”. Brennan testified that he received intelligence that concerned him about Russia colluding with the Trump campaign, and that he passsed that intelligence onto the FBI. When Trey Gowdy asked him what /5

evidence did Brennan have of Trump-Russia collusion, Brennan responded: “I don’t do evidence, I do intelligence”!
So by using intelligence as a tool, it appears that Brennan was able to pass on hearsay to the FBI to start a law enforcement investigation! /6

Then there is a huge issue with sourcing. Remember that there is no SIGINT, ie no email or intercept or photo showing that Putin personally ordered to help Trump win or that Trump campaign colluded with Russians.
Brennan relied on some mysterious human source “close to Putin” /7

But Brennan’s “source close to Putin” (if he exists) is clearly unreliable because even Mueller could not found any collusion between Trump campaign and Russia. There has been no corroboration from other sources, other than the completely bogus Steele Dossier which is why /8

Durham is after Brennan’s calls, emails etc, esp. his correspondence with the FBI.
Durham would want to determine whether Brennan pushed the “Steele Dossier” as a source to “verify” his “intelligence” on “Trump-Russia collusion” which kick-started the Russia investigation. /9
