That video, attacking radicals from outside Colorado, was produced by the Environmental Policy Alliance, which sounds like a citizens group

But it’s not 3/

It’s not a citizen’s group, it’s a front group created by an O&G lobbyist.

The foreign-funded story is test-marketed to make you mad, so you’ll protect Shell, PetroChina, and Petronas from the foreign radicals who’ve lived here for thousands of years. 4/

So I spent the better part of a year looking at a database tracking literally millions of grants totalling hundreds of billions of dollars around the world

Nobody is targeting Canada.

It’s not happening.

Everything you’ve heard is completely out of context--important context that throws the data into completely different light.

Here are the major international aid orgs that have funded the Tar Sands Campaign:
Hewlett
Oak
Rockefeller Bros

On average, the TSC got less than half of 1% of their grants budget 2009-19.

The Coastal Gas Link pipeline does not register here at all.

Neither Tides nor Tides Canada have donated a dime to anti-pipeline activism.

Their role is purely that of a bank/intermediary. They manage & distribute grants deposited by others for beneficiary orgs.

This is how 90% of all large foundation grants are administered. 8/

The largest foreign funder in Canada?

The US government, which has granted $660 MILLION to Canadian orgs & institutions 2009-19.

Or Bill/Melinda Gates-->$500M.

The anti-pipeline grants are pure small-ball--just 2% of all foreign grants to Canada. 9/

Canada gets just 1% of all global climate initiative grants.

Overwhelmingly, the $$ goes to US climate initiatives, followed by the EU, China, India, Latin America etc etc.

We are the LOWEST funded region in the world, despite having 10% of the world’s known oil reserves. 10/

So although I haven’t had time to deeply examine recipients of international grants for the Coastal Gas pipeline, I’ve seen enough.

Eg, in 2017, the Office of Wet’suwet’En received 4 grants totalling $132k, which appear to be funded for governance re-organization. 11/

Guys, these are tiny grants.

Now, let’s compare. The LNG project this pipeline will serve is being built by $68 Billion TC Energy.

Of its top 20 investors tracked by Morningstar, 1/2 were foreign, with at least $16 Billion in equity stakes. 12/

The pipeline will serve LNG Canada, a consortium of

ROYAL DUTCH SHELL
PETRONAS (Malaysia)
PETROCHINA
MITSUBISHI
KOGAS (Korea)

Representing over $1 TRILLION in shareholder value.

These bruisers can take care of themselves 13/

Per StatsCanada 2017 data, our O&G industry was 45% foreign-owned.

Nobody cares about foreign ownership or foreign influence.

They only want to discredit people whose opinions they want silenced. 14/

Wherever you go in the world, governments and business will find a way to attack the Indigenous, environmentalists and human rights workers as foreign influenced.

This is their biggest propaganda weapon.

It's used to hurt the weak and protect the strong. 14/
