Whoops...speaking of #FIFA, Swiss Prosecutors just charged Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser al-Khelaifi in a bribery scheme related to World Cup TV rights, though he's not charged with bribery himself.
He was charged with financing a fancy & expensive villa for former World FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke.
Valcke was also charged. Looks like they charged Al-Khelaifi with "inciting Valcke" to do it. Sounds like a lesser charge to me than bribery, but I dont' know their laws.

The FBI raided Gulf Coast Readers Company in Cape Coral, Florida yesterday.

It's a magazine sales biz & call center that sold magazine subscriptions but locals said it "abruptly closed this week."

Hmm, also raided by the FBI (on Wednesday) were 2 companies in Thayer, Missouri, that are listed as magazine sales businesses - Angels LLC and Reader's Club of America.

I'll bet the raids are connected.

Arthur Jan Dam of Santa Monica, CA was arrrested this morning & charged with staging cyberattacks on a California Congressional candidate in 2018.
It then says Jan Dam staged DDOS attacks on the campaign’s website in April and May 2018, which took the site down for almost a day.

The attacks came from an AWS account that Jan Dam controlled. 🧐
Jan Dam was also married to a woman who worked for another candidate who wound up winning that race. They said they had no evidence that the woman nor the other candidate knew what Jan Dam did.

Alex Friedmann, who is a former Consultant to #BernieSanders on prison reform. was arrested & charged after planting loaded weapons, ammunition, tools, & security equipment in a #Nashville jail that's under construction.

He was also previously arrested for posing as a construction worker to get into another jail that was under construction where he stole jail keys and made a diagram of the layout of the jail. He was caught on video doing it.
Looks like the keys that were stolen were returned a couple hours later, so he must have taken them to have them copied.

Given the importance of broadcasting income to football clubs, I thought that it might be interesting to look at the differences between the Big 5 European leagues, both in terms of the money received and the distribution methods. Some thoughts in the following thread.
Most of the Premier League TV money is distributed equally: 50% of the domestic deal, overseas deals and commercial revenue. Merit payment (25% of domestic) is based on league position, while facility fees (25% of domestic) are based on number of times club shown live on TV.
As a result, #LFC actually earned most TV money from the Premier League in 2018/19 with £152m, despite finishing behind #MCFC £151m in the league, as they were broadcast live on 3 more occasions than City. The three relegated clubs averaged around £100m.

As the FIFA Women’s World Cup gets underway, there has been much interest in the prize money. Last year FIFA president Gianni Infantino said this was “massively higher than the last World Cup”, adding, “We are making progress”. Let’s look at whether this is actually the case.
On the face of it, growth is impressive as prize money doubles from $15m to $30m. Also for the first time women’s funding includes $11.5m for pre-tournament preparation & $8.5m to clubs for players taking part. So, in total, contributions have more than tripled from $15m to $50m.
However, the women’s $30m prize money is still only 7.5% of the men’s $400m. In fact, as FIFPRO noted, “the changes actually signify an increase in the gap between men’s and women’s prize money”. This has risen from $343m at the 2015 tournament to $370m at the 2019 World Cup.

#PSG were acquired in 2011 by Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), a subsidiary of Qatar's sovereign wealth fund Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), making the club by far the richest in France and one of the wealthiest in the world. Nasser Al-Khelaifi is the club’s chairman and CEO.
Pre-tax #PSG went from a €19m loss to a €40m profit, a €59m improvement. Revenue (DNCG definition) rose €54m (11%) from €503m to a record high of €557m, while profit on player sales shot up €132m to €145m. This was partially offset by significant cost growth.
