"Many of these officials are still in Mexico," a prosecutor said. "Many of them still hold powerful positions in the private sector."
A magistrate judge is even now deciding whether or not to release GGL on a bail package of $1 million secured by properties GGL owns.
Prosecutors made the argument that GGL should remain in custody b/c of his ties to powerful people in Mexico.

The judge has just denied bail to GGL—for now—saying the proposal of $1 million bond secured by properties was not enough. But he left open the possibility for bail later with a stronger package.
