We've put together a Corona/Covid-19 response for Ueno.

Putting it here in case it helps anyone working on a plan but note that we are not experts. Please evaluate and take actions based on the best information you have access to.

1/
Our first priority is the health and safety of our employees, contractors, clients as well as their families.

In the last few weeks, the situation with Coronavirus (COVID-19) has developed fast and it will continue to develop over the foreseeable future.

2/
Please remember that many of these precautions are for people that may be more vulnerable than you. We have a duty to help them by taking steps to limit the spread of the virus.

Our approach will continue to be updated as new information and best practices change.

3/
Actions we are taking immediately :
A. Our offices will stay open as usual. This may change if the situation gets more serious.
B. We are postponing all Chatty Hours for now and discouraging outside visitors into our offices.

4/
C. Any employee with any kind of flu symptoms should stay at home. No exceptions.

D. If you feel unsafe, you are welcome to work from home. Use your best judgment. Please let your teammates and managers know and stay in active communication on work progress as usual.

5/
E. We are halting all flight travel for business reasons. If you are already in transit you will obviously be allowed to go back home! If you have business travel needs, please discuss with our General Manager, she can sign off on any exceptions.

6/
F. Personal travel is discouraged but we obviously don’t tell you what you can and can’t do in your free time. Just be safe and use your best judgment.

G. If you need extra sick days, we will accommodate. Please let your manager know.

7/
Other actions:

A. We will be buying hand sanitizers for all employees and leaving them on your desk. Use them excessively.

B. We will also leave equipment on your desks for you to clean your desk, phone and computers as often as you’d like.

8/
C. Wash your hands multiple times a day. Like, all the time.

D. All communal surfaces will be cleaned by our teams every 2 hours.

9/
Best practices:
Note that we are not trained medical professionals so take information in here with a grain of salt. More information here.

cdc.gov/coronavirus/20…

10/
A. According to the best information we can find, Corona transmits through respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes. These droplets can land in the mouths or noses of people who are nearby or possibly be inhaled into the lungs.

11/
B. It may be possible that a person can get COVID-19 by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching their own mouth, nose, or possibly their eyes, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.

12/
C. The best course of action is to keep your hands clean, keep communal surfaces clean and avoid touching your face.
