There's been quite a bit of scientific discussion about why men might be more susceptible to the coronavirus than women, but until yesterday I hadn't seen mention of what "all men know" ie men have poor toilet hygiene. Distressingly many walk out without washing their hands.☹️
It's probably one of those things that is such commonsense that it was on nobody's radar. Neither gender has much experience of the other's intimate habits in public toilets, otherwise it would have been much easier to get to that💡moment.
That's not to say that the other ideas about chromosome-related differences etc. are wrong. I have no idea, frankly. But if the very best way to stop the spread of the coronavirus is frequent, thorough hand washing, and women do so more than men (which on average they do) then...

With the benefit of hindsight, I'm beginning to think the transition period could have been a bad idea.

Given all that's going on in the world, had we not had one, we might have been *begging* to rejoin the EU by now!

(Not *sure* either way, but I did wonder...)
We couldn't have known about the effects of the coronavirus then. But Boris Johnson wouldn't have been able to dodge the effects of Brexit.
To be absolutely clear: the coronavirus changed my mind.

Had it not been for that black swan factor, our current course of action would be by far the more prudent.

But now, the Tory wreckers are pulling out of everything with "European" in the name, seemingly with impunity.

F**k business continues apace!

In today's bout of Brexit madness, the Government said it will yank us out of EASA, the EU's aviation safety regime. UK aerospace will have to go it alone, relying on the CAA and hopefully bilateral treaties with everyone.

Oh, and the EASA is currently pursuing enforcement action against the UK (according to article) because we were not following all its rules properly.

So it's reassuring to know that Grant Shapps sees it as a positive that we can further get away from aviation safety standards.

The UK will cut VAT on female hygiene products to 0% after the transition period ends. Important to emphasize the EU is changing its VAT rules, so we wouldn't have had to leave in order to do so anyway (though it might have taken a bit longer). #TamponTax

So it is a significant development, but it shouldn't be held up as "proof" that the UK was right to leave the EU.

EU rules aren't carved in stone for all time. They adapt too. And generally (but not always) for the better, in response to concerns raised by member states.
Here's more background to all this. In fact, the UK helped drive the initiative that led the EU to reconsider its VAT rules. Our influence worked!

But then Brexit happened, and our side stopped pushing. The EU slowed off a bit (but has *not* given up).

The man who died was not associated w/nursing facility - @DocJeffD says @CDCgov team on the way expected tonight to begin “outbreak” investigation. More cases expected. He again stresses MORE hand washing, less face touching, social distancing @KIRORadio #coronavirus
Right now they are focused on the nursing facility but no widespread community spread yet @DocJeffD says they could get to point where they ask people to telecommute, cancel large gatherings etc. if situation changes, urges everyone to take precautions, stock up on meds
