Daily #covid19 sitrep from @WHO is up (numbers as of 10am Geneva):

China:
80955 (+31) cases
3162 (+22) deaths

Outside China:
37371 (+4596) cases
in 113 (+4) countries
1130 (+258) deaths

New countries here are: Bolivia, Jamaica, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of the Congo
@WHO While all 22 reported #covid19 deaths in China are from Hubei province, the new cases reported today are not (only 13 of 31 cases). Rest spread out over several provinces, which is not encouraging.
@WHO In the rest of the world:
Italy: +977
Iran: +881
Spain: +615
France:+372
S Korea: +242
US: +224
Denmark: +172
Switzerland: +159
Germany: +157
@WHO Note that Denmark has more than doubled its numbers in a single day (and many more cases have been reported since @WHO numbers were updated). The country has decided to closed all schools, universities and kindergartens for 2 weeks and is taking other actions.
@WHO The sitrep also includes a “risk communication guidance” for people at a higher risk: people over 60 years old and those with underlying medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease or cancer.
@WHO “It is essential that these groups are supported by their communities during #covid19 outbreak”, sitrep notes and thankfully makes a crucial point: All people have to protect themselves, and that will also help to protect others!
@WHO #Covid19 advice for risk groups:
- Exchange “1 metre greetings”, like wave, nod, or bow with visitors
- Ask visitors and those you live with to wash their hands.
- Regularly clean and disinfect surfaces in your home
- If someone you live has symptoms, limit your shared spaces.
@WHO - If you have symptoms, contact your healthcare provider by phone first.
- Prepare for a #covid19 outbreak in your community.
- When you’re out, follow the same preventative guidelines you would at home.
- Stay up to date using information from reliable sources.
