You remember when @AmnestyUK @libertyhq @BIHRhumanrights signed a joint statement urging the UK government to adopt sex self ID?

They said the current gender recognition process is "dehumanising, long & costly" (it takes less than 20 weeks in most cases)

amnesty.org.uk/we-support-ref…
Over at @EachOtherUk Welsh womens org @chwaraeteg called it "overly bureucratic and dehumanising"
"complex and prohibitive"....
Pink New called it "humiliating and dehumanising "

pinknews.co.uk/2018/10/09/gen…
Stonewall say it is "stressful, dehumanising and traumatic"
Stonewall say that people have to send photos of themselves at events

(you don't)

to a panel made of "legal professionals and clinicians "

(its two people; just one of each)

Amnesty make it sound like you have to wait two years after diagnosis, and onerously prove 'living in the acquired gender'.

In fact you don't need a large number of documents, just 2 or 3 (bills, tax return etc..) for each year in new name and title, before or after diagnosis.
They said its "cumbersome and dehumanizing"

(sending off some documents to helpful administrators, receiving a response in a few weeks, only 5% of applications are refused)
You would think that when these respected organisations with multi-million pound budgets speak on a topic it means they've done some research?

Amnesty say they "collaborated with "organisations such as Stonewall and Mermaids.... "

Thats it.
Not only did these organisations not publish any work looking at the interaction with women's rights.

They did not even publish any research to back up their core claims!

Here is the basic research they should have done about how the GRP process works

None of these orgs mention how hard the panel and the team in Leicester work to make the process supportive, giving people several chances to send in additional information or correct their forms if they haven't filled them in correctly.

Only 5% of applications are turned down
Specialist trans orgs including Press for Change, GIRES, Mermaids, ScottishTrans Alliance are closer to the process.

They meet w the Panel & admins regularly.

The minutes never say 'demeaning', 'dehumanizing', 'cumbersome', 'stressful', 'long', 'prohibitive', 'humiliating'
People believe @AmnestyUK @BIHRhumanrights @libertyhq @stonewalluk as charities with good reputations.

People assume they'd done their research

Instead they sign letters condemning journalists who write about this
