Quezon City is in one with President Rodrigo Duterte in keeping our citizens safe and secure as we implement immediate city-wide responses against #COVID19.
As of March 12, 2020, Quezon City has recorded a total of 6 confirmed cases prompting the need for continued cooperation between all government agencies for contact tracing, detecting cases and limiting widespread infection.
Given this, Quezon City is now under COMMUNITY QUARANTINE. This includes a travel suspension to and from Metro Manila from March 15 to April 14, 2020 to limit the spread of the virus.
These exceptional circumstances require the full cooperation of all stakeholders, including our citizens. As a necessary precaution, we appeal to each and every one to be vigilant while remaining calm, informed, and compliant to the rules prescribed by the national government.
TO OUR PARENTS AND BARANGAYS – Please keep our children safe at home. Strict monitoring of public spaces through our Barangay Officials and the Police Force as directed by the President will be implemented, including malls, computer shops and community spaces.
TO THE PRIVATE SECTOR – Kindly monitor the health of your employees and consider flexible work arrangements to limit interactions and risk of infection.
We will exert all efforts to monitor those traversing the city, including those bringing in commodities and goods to be made available to our citizens.
TO THOSE IN RETAIL AND WHO RUN COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENTS – We ask that you conduct regular sanitation of your facilities to reduce the risk of transmission. We seek your assistance in keeping an orderly, equitable, and fair purchase of goods in your establishments.
Please ensure that supplies are democratized among shoppers to avoid hoarding and panic buying.
TO ALL OUR QUEZON CITY RESIDENTS – In cases when it is unavoidable to be in public, we advise you to practice social distancing to fight the spread of the disease. This means keeping yourself away from others at 1 meter apart.
Please avoid the spread of #fakenews and subscribe only to reliable resources and official government channels and refrain from engaging in speculation on social media.
For those who have come into close contact with any individual who have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the last two weeks, we strongly advise you to come forward to intensify our data gathering measures and ensure immediate care to those who need it.
As an immediate response, your local government continues its citywide disinfection to combat the spread of the disease, including the closure of identified public spaces, such as parks, covered courts, buildings and other facilities.
We are continuously monitoring all Persons Under Investigation (PUI) and Persons Under Monitoring (PUM) within our city, preparing for isolation areas within our hospitals, and coordinating with other health institutions for assistance.
Our City Hotline 122 and other government hotlines are ready to receive emergency calls to respond to threats the situation poses even beyond the borders of the City. This is operational 24/7 to ensure that we are able to respond to all possible cases at any given time.
Our Basic Health and Emergency Response Team (BHERTS), which includes Barangay Officials, Health Workers and other Frontliners, is ready to respond to your immediate needs.
Your local government is working at all fronts to maintain regular operations under a 4-day work week scheme to ensure regular services are being delivered to our citizens even as we face the threat of this virus.
Our City Executives and Council Members are in coordination for the passage of relevant policies that will help mitigate the effects of the virus.
Finally, we thank all those who work tirelessly during these trying times. The crisis we are facing calls for everyone to work together more than ever. It is our commitment to keep Quezon City safe, and we will exert all efforts to do so.
