Fiji healthcare has always been centred around prevention rather than cure. This is the IDEAL healthcare intention. In a population that is health conscious and follows guidelines on exercise and healthy eating and seeking treatment early to prevent death and complications.
But the reality is, this isn't the case. One of our professors would tell us, in Fiji, the doctors competition is the next door neighbour or coconut wireless. Most people would listen to ANYTHING BUT the doctors advice. When it comes to #COVID19 and #HighRiskCOVID19 patients
This is something we CANNOT afford.

#flatteningthecurve and #SocialDistancing has proven to be an effective way in reducing transmission and case loads to the point where the health care system can effectively cope with the case load AND other emergent situations (which are bound to occur).
#handhygiene is an ESSENTIAL component in preventing infection & transmission of #COVID19. These are not things that closing borders or money will solve.
These are INDIVIDUAL actions and behaviours which MUST be done in order to remain safe and protect #HighRiskCovid19 patients

Even the best developed countries around the world are playing "catch up" with #COVID19. At this point, @AalishaSahukhan @Nadokoulu and team are doing the BEST that they can, in our setting to protect the population, anticipate cases and the best management plan that we can give
However, they can't do this alone. The outcome is LARGELY determined by PEOPLE who will FOLLOW the ADVICE GIVEN TO THEM and TRUST that the medicos KNOW what they are doing. So PLEASE, cooperate, isolate, prepare and take #COVID19 as seriously as you've ever taken anything.
