1/ I do not think the economic support package could possibly be any worse for public health. Fucking astonishing. It's simple geography. Let me explain
2/ I couldn't bear sound of Johnson's voice so took the dogs for a socially distanced walk through town, deciding to read up afterwards.
3/ This is a small trown, pop. 40,000, about six pubs in centre, one of them a 'Spoons, rest pretty small.
4/ 'Spoons has closed. Brexitface has probably just laid off his zero hour workers. He can be all Mr Virtue now. He can now apply for a soft government loan, without paying his staff.
5/ Exacerbated by Paddy's Day, two of the smallest pubs, were busy, one of them getting rammed. At 5pm. Music was being set up, in an already cramped up squeezed into an old shop, about 20m x 8m, I'd say. Some of the auld lads who drink in 'Spoons cos it's cheap were there.
6/ This obvious increase in infectivity-by-crammedness is a direct result of the decision not to close pubs, but to 'advise'. One of the smaller pubs has been on F'book today to say they have no choice but to stay open cos, unlike 'Spoons, the boss cares about the staff right now
7/ This, by govt policy, is going to be replicated all over. Bigger businesses, able to lay off staff because they can, and who have cashflow to get through to the loan, are the ones who correlate broadly to premises where social distancing is more possible.
8/ Smaller businesses correlate to more people per sq metre, because business rates and because of the nature of town centre premises vs out of town warehouse stuff. So the more infection prone places will stay open, because they'r not getting help pay the staff they know now
9/ Astonishing. The govt has just acted to deepen the health crisis, by not understanding how people live. And not even fucking noticing it was Paddy's Day and that most people drink Guinness then, not go to parades.
