2- Interpreted conversations often less #patientcentered. Ask about pt concerns & feasibility of recs. Dispel rumors. Inquire abt medicines/herbs or high-risk contacts (e.g. elderly parents at home, etc). If #COVID19 #isolation advised, explore open-ended❓about concerns 2/7
3- Highlight #publiccharge suspended for #COVID19 testing & treatment. Spread the word. #Greencard eligibility not jeopardized by seeking #COVID19 testing & treatment uscis.gov/greencard/publ… 3/7
4- Ensure written communication, patient #COVID19 instructions or education, & telemedicine workflows inc #languageaccess considerations, esp for threshold languages. 4/7
5- For admitted #COVID19 pts, continue to ensure pts w lang barriers (or families for intubated/severely ill patients) have opportunity to ask questions via a phone/video #interpreter AT LEAST 1x/day with a physician & 1x/shift by nurses (ideally every interaction). 5/7
6- Address barriers to #COVID19 patient-initiated communication w RNs when admitted. 7- Limited Eng prof pts are more isolated without family due to visitor restrictions. Facilitate #remoteconnection via phone/videos. 6/7
8- Share your #COVID19 expertise or that of language concordant colleagues w community organizations/ media. 9- Fight stigma & promote connection. We are in this together. 10- Offer/advocate for resources that address #SDOH (ex: housing/food) esp for low-wage workers. END/7
