@beckywhite11 is up next with 'Customer Conferences as a UX Research Constraint'

#dr2020
Becky will takes us back to a time when conferences looked like this.

Thousands of customers flocked to Atlassians customer conference.

Unfortunately for researchers customers are bouncing around the conference and the environment isn't ideal for research.
To get around this Becky used Workshop Walls, conference attendees would walk by, share their opinion and a researcher would swoop in a have a quick conversation with customers.

Over the years it's iterated into multiple spaces.
So what do workshop walls do well?
Activity 1: Spectrum questions and dots
Activity 2: Interactive Matrix survey
Activity 3: Stickers with semi defined options. Make sure there's undefined ones!
Activity 4: Relationship therapy—how do your customers relate to your product. Independent don't activity
Some of the letter customers have written
Activity 5: Pun wall (I missed this please someone fill it in!)
Capture context details of as many people who participate in your activities to follow up after the conference!
How can you repurpose workshop walls?

Gather feedback
In a public setting
Complement traditional methods

Q: How did you present that much information?
A: We would present the top 5-10 themes, stories, but we never presented it as foundational research so we told stakeholders it was a biased group of people and this is what was interesting about it
Thank you so much Becky!!!
