One early takeaway from my return to teaching this morning: If you're in front of a classroom, real or virtual, you have an obligation to educate yourself about virus mitigation practices and share that information with your students. Do it. Please.
It was made clear to me today that talking to your students about virus mitigation has an impact. It can save their lives, and the lives of their loved ones. And a lot of professors aren't doing it. Please please do it.
I heard stories from several students today (which aren't mine to repeat) about how our class discussions about the virus twelve and fourteen days ago shaped how these last two weeks have gone for them, for the better.
A lot of people are still operating with incomplete information. Stuff you've seen repeated a zillion times in the last week may be news to someone in your class, or to someone they love. Ask if they have questions. If you don't know the answer, look it up, or help them to.
