This likely is due to more testing and exponentially fast viral spread.

Unfortunately, NYC’s #COVID19 death toll continues to accelerate faster than *any* other region globally (albeit #China is hardly transparent).
The next 4-6 weeks in NYC will be very, very tough.

Unfortunately, the #COVID19 death toll of the entire US is also accelerating, as regions outside of #NYC report that their hospitals are at/over capacity with #coronavirus patients.
