So. Because Trump brought a pillow executive (?) to the podium and he talked about God working for Trump we need to talk about the Cult of the Shining City that worships Trump and is the result of a Neo-Confederate coup by Jerry Falwell.

So. Jerry Falwell and Neo-Confederate preachers hijacked Christianity in the 1960's as desegregationists and Civil Rights leaders like MLK used the social justice teachings of Christ.

They changed the entire religion toward white supremacy as they believed in a racist God.

We don't talk much about the Confederacy because it's a frightening reflection of our modern world. But the Confederacy was extremely religious. Its preachers preached that God was racist and wove white supremacy into the world. Lost battles were God testing Confederates.

In the Confederacy, the churches were full of preachers preaching that God was pro-slavery, pro-segregation, pro white supremacy. They based their entire religion and society on it.

Jerry Falwell came from this Confederate theology. As desegregation picked up steam he preached that God had drawn "a line of distinction" and that any attempt to remove segregation would incur God's wrath and harm the white race.

In response to MLK and desegregation, Jerry Falwell and his fellow Confederate preachers started emphasizing power and profit. The prosperity gospel was about worshiping power and profit as denotations of God's will.

It was an extension of Adam Smith's capitalistic vision.

Over time, they gained power and wealth. This is why they built big, gaudy empires. Why they opened theme parks, TV studios, because excessive, conspicuous wealth was about showing God's grace. It was about showing white supremacy as being godly and right.

I won't go into the whole Ronald Reagan angle, but suffice to say, Reagan introduced really weird occult beliefs to the Evangelical Right, and suddenly attempts to change the economy or reform laws became satanic attacks on America, God's chosen country.

Anyway, the evangelical right started treating crime and addiction and poverty as markers of evil. If you were poor, if you were arrested, if you were in harm's way, it was your own fault as you were wicked and devilish. All fault was removed from our laws and economy.

Anyway, this Pillow Idiot Trump had today is from a long line of Cult of the Shining City believers who have blamed hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, and the like on the Devil and Americans who aren't "godly enough."

These Neo-Confederate charlatans have used human misery and suffering for their own benefit, profit, and power. They point to natural disasters, epidemics, all of it, as signs that white supremacy and the worship of power must remain untouched.

The Pillow Idiot Trump brought to the podium today was talking about God coming back on the day of Trump's election. It's a nod toward a prevalent Cult of the Shining City belief that Barack Obama was sinful and possibly the antichrist. It is...very weird and very dangerous.

PS I grew up in this and had no idea that I was being indoctrinated into a nationalist, apocalyptic, Neo-Confederate, white supremacist cult. There are millions lost in this and they know no other way.

We have to call it what it is. A cult.
