Of the 10,645 deaths registered in the week ending 20 March, 103 mentioned #COVID-19 on the death certificate ow.ly/iY4Z50z0FhI
By looking at registrations up to March 25 we’re able to provide data on deaths that occurred in the same week (14-20 March).

This shows there were 181 deaths related to #COVID19 ow.ly/Q73g30qu3l5

Our #COVID19 figures differ from those reported by @DHSCgovuk because of different reporting methods and timing
.@ONS weekly deaths involving #COVID19 figures are based on deaths registered in the stated week and include all deaths where “COVID-19” was mentioned on death certificates.
Government figures are based on deaths occurring to date among hospital patients who have tested positive for #COVID19.

These figures are valuable because they are available quickly and give an indication of what is happening daily.
Their definition is also clear, so the limitations of the data can be understood. But they won’t necessarily include all deaths involving #COVID19, such as those in a care home.
Our numbers are slower to prepare, because they have to be certified by a doctor, registered and processed. But once ready, they are the most comprehensive. Read our statement ow.ly/kgQz30qu3xY

Labour productivity (output per hour) was up 0.1% in Q3 2019 compared with the same quarter of 2018.

This follows four previous quarters where it fell ow.ly/AuRG50xPTk2
Total public service productivity was up 0.3% in 2017 on its 2016 level.

This was joint with 2015 as the slowest annual growth since 2010 ow.ly/Oeca30q7IVD
UK public service healthcare productivity grew 0.9% in 2017. However, this was slower than the 1.6% growth of 2016 ow.ly/ywZL30q7IXs

The total net wealth of households in Great Britain was £14.6 trillion in 2016-2018.

This is a 13% real terms increase from 2014-2016, mainly due to rising private pension and net property wealth ow.ly/gAE750xspdD

As @FactCheck reported yesterday, the independent @ONS is now publishing data on deaths in England and Wales where #Covid-19 is mentioned by the doctor on the death certificate. ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulati…
Unlike the death toll the @DHSCgovuk publishes every day, these figures include people dying outside hospital - in care homes, for example - and cases where the diagnosis of #coronavirus has not been confirmed by a test.
So the ONS data captures more deaths. We learn today that ONS is aware of 210 deaths involving Covid-19 occurring before 20 March, 40 more than the 170 announced by DHSC by that date.

Many people I encounter still seem to be doing the personal math on risk. They reason, not many (known) cases in my area, so the risk to me is currently low. I won’t engage in high risk behaviors like being in large groups, but small groups is fine. #covid #epitwitter 2/6
And personal risk may in fact be low in some areas. But this is the risk to one person, not the risk to all of us. The probability of winning the lottery is miniscule. But the probability that someone will win the lottery is high. That’s our risk as a group #covid #epitwitter 3/6

The tragic effects of the #COVIDー19 outbreak in #Italy are showing up in demographic statistics. Weekly mortality rates for age groups 65-74, 75-84 and 85+ went above the 95% reference range during the week of March 8-14. Baseline is the average mortality rate in the past 5 yrs.
These figures are based on a sample of 19 large Italian cities, which is representative of the whole population, but it does not include Bergamo which is one of the most affected cities by #COVIDー19

2/ But why did you wait so long, asks a Royal Commissioner. He gets what he expected - a rehearsed line about how he took the best advice he had, how he had to make hard decisions. That’s disproved by experts providing evidence that Scott knew things by this week, mid March.
3/ The Commission heard that he had figures early on, that between 20-60 percent of Australians would be affected, that it would last more than six months. Why didn’t you tell Australia, he was asked. They would have RIOTED, Scotty said indignantly. They already WERE.
