2) They also do brazen fakes, like sending Halloween masks instead of N95s

The resolution to this paradox is that often these aren’t the same people.
It’s a country of 1.4 billion.
Some of them are incredibly smart, hard-working, intelligent, and kind.
Others are running some of the craziest scams you’ve ever seen.
Just worth keeping in mind.

The Chinese felt they had produced a real decline in the virus and were sending aid to Italy, Spain, etc. Soft power confirmed!
But quality wasn’t there. Soft power fail.
So they just banned MANY companies from exporting. Will have enormous consequences.

Well, obvious point is that if China is thought by Americans to have 10X or even more deaths, then the US is no longer #1 in the rankings.
