3. These 8 covers show pro-Serbian feeling & encouragements pushed in #Paris during #WW1.
At the time, #France was trying to obtain the establishment of a #Balkan front in order to help #Serbia, pincer #Quadruplice & alleviate Western front.
80,000 French died there.
And we won..
4. @EmmanuelMacron you should not forget it.
The war our ancestors fought w/ their Serbian bothers led to the victory of #France & #Serbia, a created a bond which should have never been betrayed for the sake of our former enemies.
Serbia answered our call in 1941.
It's our turn..
5. Now #Kosovo & Metohija are occupied by #NATO armies for the sake of #Albanians, proxies of #Germany, & vs #Serbia, betrayed ally of #France.
Our State recognized an Albanian Kosovo & our troops are not even there to do their duty & protect #Serbs.
We must terminate this farce.
7. Also, #France would be well inspired to bar #Croatia from the Eurozone & Schengen as long as Zagreb doesn't grant an autonomy to the #Krajina according to the defunct Z4 plan.
The cleansing of the Serbs of #Kosmet & Krajina are 2 stains to be wiped of our #History & #Legacy.🧐
8. Because I started w/ covers before drifting on what #France should do for #Serbia & why, then saw some folks glad to grab them, let's go back on our pics.
Here are 3 #French covers made for #Vidovdan 1916, labelled "The #Serbian Day" to justify French war effort in #Balkans.💪
9. Musical interlude.
While I'm browsing my documents, here's the song passing on my play list, & I love it !🥁🎵🎸🎶🎙️
Artist : Ritam Nereda
Title : Protiv Svih (Against all)
Genre : Rock.
Year : 2010s.. 🤓 #Serbiansongs#Serbianmusic
10. Back to posters, here are 4 in #English.
The 1st is like those in #France for #Vidovdan 1916 but for #Serbian Relief Committee of #America, 2nd is for #Kosovo Day Committee in UK (Look, people knew their History back then!), the 2 last for the post-war UK Serbian Relief Fund.
11. Back to #France there were public displays calling #Serbs "brothers & sisters" w/ the highest authorities approval in #WW1.
Series of thousands of medals, pins & insignia were smelted to be gifted or sold to the profit of #Serbia.
This fraternity movement was so strong that..
12. ..there was no difference made between #French & #Serbian soldiers/people in the way they were honored in #France.
French & Serbian collections were printed/smelted/advertised & sold together.🤝
French flags were ribbons for Serbian tokens.🪢
We were 2 bodies, but one soul!🙏
13. One of the 8 first "#LePetitJournal" covers was scratched, here's a proper replacement!
Plus 3 more, including about 1908 & 1912.🖼️
It's hard to find good resolution for some, I'll upload what I find.😇
There's lots of material from #France dedicated to #Serbia.
More to come!
14. Correction of Tweet 13., w/ higher resolution cover of #LePetitJournal for the Serbian cavalry regiment mutiny.👍
This is all for today!
But I have more in stock, & I need to sort everything to deliver it in order.
To be continued then..🍻
Živela #Srbija, & vive la #France!🤝
15. Dobar dan!
Here comes a series of #LePetitJournal covers about Petar #Karađorđević, king of #Serbia:
-2 from 1903 (around the Coup)
-One from 1911 (#France honors him for participating to Franco-Prussian war)
-One from 1913 (Petar is breaking bread per☦️tradition)
Izvolite!📬
16. Here are 2 #LePetitJournal covers about #CrnaGora (#Montenegro).
-The Kiss of the King to the dead & wounded (1912)
-A Montenegrin officer fighting vs a Turk (1912)
Aparte: now, #Milo#Đukanović is ruling thanks to #Muslims & buying weapons from #Turkey.🤦♂️
Vote to oust him!🧹
17. #Montenegrin heroism was regularly celebrated in Le Petit Journal along #Serbian one, both being the 2 faces of a same coin anyway!
Women were honored for their help to their men.🙏
And #France's position about #Skadar was clear: #Montenegro earned it in the 1st #BalkanWar.💪
20. Dobar dan !
More covers & pics of #French magazine Le Petit Journal:
- National agitation in #Serbia during #Bosnia|n annexation crisis: Serbian women learn to use the rifle.💪
- #Ottoman atrocities during the 1st #BalkanWar: massacres of Serbian peasants by #Turkish gangs.😢
24. Dobar dan !
Here comes more covers of #LPJ:
-Queen Natalija Obrenović of #Serbia (1891).
-French General Cordonnier, commandant of the 57th division of reserve infantry (future Army of Orient) during the #ThessalonikiFront (Ostrovo, Fiorina, Armenohor & Kenali) under Sarrail.
25. Here are #LePetitJournal covers about:
- French general #Sarrail, who forced #Greece into supporting the #France-#Serbia effort in the Balkans & commanded #ThessalonikiFront until December 1917.💪
- French General Guillaumat, who replaced Sarrail as commander until June 1918.
26. Here is "Le Petit Journal" cover about French General Louis Franchet D'Espèrey, last commander & victor of the Thessaloniki Front for #France along #Serbia, and:
- The flags & uniforms of the 1st #BalkanWar.
- The Thessaloniki #Allied camp.
- The flags & decorations for #WW1.
27. Here comes a huge pre-WW1 interview in #French of Prince Aleksandar Karađorđević, who later became Regent of #Serbia, King of Serbs, Croats & Slovenes, then King of #Yugoslavia, before his assassination in 1934.
Check both tweets & pages order to read.
2. Here comes a #Yugoslav map for foodies.
Unlike for companies, the destruction of #Yugoslavia didn't change the local specialties, which remain the delight of all locals & visitors. #Meatlovers are like fish in water there, & back in #France I dearly miss ćevap & pljeskavica!🥺
3. Here are 2 pseudo #tourism-maps of #Yugoslavia, respectively made by locals & #Americans.
I wish we helped, as requested, to conserve & protect this #beauty.🕯️
As a citizen of a #NATO country, & especially as a #French, I'm sorry we didn't, even if most of this still exists.🙏
