There were 4,212 new infections, just 180 below the country's record. Bulgaria continues to bounce around at, or near, record highs, and needs to push infections down with better testing before it takes a hold again
#Czechia continues to recover from #Covid19
7,355 new infections overnight, but that's more than 4000 fewer than the same day last week.
It's also reflected in the health data, with ICU beds in use in the Czech Republic down 134 from peak
#Norway is struggling to prevent a new surge in cases.
The country actually hit a new national #Covid19 record of 717 two days ago, and last night went within 29 of that again.
#Illinois has set a world record for the highest number of #Covid19 cases by a region in a day
#NewYork#California#Texas and #Florida have all been surpassed. Florida held the record with 15,394 until earlier this evening when Illinois confirmed 15,415 positive tests #USA
#USA infection rate (new #Covid19 cases) are up 50% in just over eight days.
If the U.S. continues at this rate of growth (and right now it is INCREASING), the daily case number will be close to 400,000 by the end of the month
#USA suffered almost 1,400 more #Coronavirus related deaths by midnight GMT on Friday
That takes the total number of #Covid19 deaths in the States to 249,974
USA's already become 1st country to pass 1/4 of a million dead by now, but won't be confirmed officially until later
At last!
It shouldn't be a relief to see the next President say this, it's obligatory. It's so damn obvious yet the incumbent has said & done virtually nothing to stop this killer disease
The Dakotas are a disaster zone. 56% positive #Covid19 test rate in SD and the Governor does nothing saying "trust the data"!
Meanwhile in ND you can work on a Covid ward even if you're infected because they're so short of staff #USA
However there is now enough testing data to explain the fall in more detail.
First new data: 4,619 new #Covid19 cases (8703 last Sat)
However TRUE: there is a lot less testing so there will be fewer infections identified...
#Belgium has effectively cut volume of tests by half
This should result in a higher test positive %, but the rate is also falling
New #Covid19 cases are falling much quicker than the rate of testing
Conclusion:
Lockdown working
Cases falling, but not as quickly as figs suggest
#Georgia (country, not state - I realise I've written a lot about both recently!)
For the 11th time in 12 days Georgia has set a new national record for new #Covid19 infections.
3,504 new cases today and the infection rate is now up to 781 AD/M
#Russia also sets a new national record: 22,702 new #Covid19 infections
However if comparing Russian data with others please remember it's still very suspicious both in terms of reports "on the ground" and the data itself (uniformity, correlation between cases/deaths etc)
25,571 infections, down from 27,875 last Saturday
However only 56,000 tests (+ve rate 45.7%)
Last Sat the PL govt reported 66,800 tests (41.7%)
So we prove Poland is NOT improving the situation
#Poland's apparent policy change will cause problems as they try to get positive media
Complacency is one, while death rates will continue to rise.
Today a record 548 #Covid19 deaths
In Belgium strict lockdown and case decline were already happening before cut in tests
A decent fall in cases today with 4,836 new #Covid19 infections (5,318 last Sat). The strict lockdown starts to work
However 107 deaths in the last 24 hours equals the country's record
After a couple of wobbles, #Slovakis is now at its lowest infection rate since 23 October.
1,771 new #Covid19 cases is a cut by around a third on this time last week
#Croatia in a tricky place right now. #Covid19 infections are definitely heading up again - but that could just be because of a similar increase in testing
2,866 new cases today (2,399 last Sat). But the positive test rate is 29.8%
Belarus Ministry of Health claims only 6 people died in last 24 hours
Doctors' Telegram channel "belxalat" finds 6 #Covid19 patients died in one hospital alone
17 have died in 6 hospitals they've got data for
Daily infection totals in #Belarus also show a new record.
But the total of 1,248 new #covid19 cases is still thought to be massively under-reported, ditto the deaths (see previous tweet)
#Netherlands sees another fall in new #Covid19 cases, but much lower than recent falls. Hopefully it's just a small anomaly with figures which happens regularly, but worth keeping an eye on.
Today's total is 5,914 which is only 10% lower than last Saturday's total.
Another national record for #Serbia today.
Very much expected, and the increase on last Saturday is
again well over 40%
3,822 new #Covid19 cases announced today.
My projections show 4,000 midweek next week and maybe 5,000 at the weekend
#UK with another high number of positive #Covid19 cases
But today's total of 26,860 is down on recent highs while testing remains very high
#Greece figures are up again compared to last Saturday, but down on recent highs.
1,411 new #Covid19 infections today, 20% up on last Saturday. It's 80 higher than the previous record just 2 days ago.
Europe's most infected nation, #Austria, has also seen a fall in cases compared to a week ago today.
8,241 cases last Saturday, while today only 7,063 new #Covid19 infections.
However I don't think they're on the home straight yet, cases are slowing but not convinced it's over
#Greece has announced that #Coronavirus has been found among mink in its country too.
A few days ago #Denmark culled all the country's mink after it was found a new variant was capable of passing from mink back to people.
Western Europe's recovering from #Coronavirus, but Eastern Europe still has problems
Sometimes we've had 20 European nations declaring records on a Saturday, today just 6 had all-time highs of new #Covid19 infections: Russia, Belarus, Turkey, Ukraine, Serbia, Georgia and Moldova
#USA won't set another world record today - some counties & even states don't report at the weekend. However, some astonishingly high numbers and state records coming with new cases already over 50,000
#France has a good day as the figures steady down now
32,095 new #Covid19 cases today - last Saturday was an artificially high 86,852. But it's helped France cut infection rates from 650 to 450 in just two days.

Monday's #Coronavirus thread starts here, as we hope Europe continues to make progress against the spread of #Covid19.
All the news as it happens throughout the day but I'll particularly be watching two things
Countries heading back up again
Deaths falling 10-14 days after peak
#USA continues to surge - initial figures for Sunday not yet in (this total always increases anyway when regions which didn't report over the weekend add their data)
But one big headline came from #Florida, where the Sunshine State went back over 10,000 #Covid19 cases in a day
..it's the first time since July #Florida hit 10k, and for the last 3 months FLA has not even touched 7,000
Today #USA should experience a total of between 158,000 and 180,000 cases as it edges towards 200k in the coming days. I'm predicting 172,000 by the end of the day
In #Belarus today the usual Sunday protests, but things are sinking to a new low.
Many people have come to a provincial neighbourhood of #Minsk to pay tribute to, protest against, the brutal murder of Roman Bondarenko by police
The regime turns the memorial site into a war zone
#Belarus
Meanwhile, nearby on Pushkinskaya in central #Minsk, another attack on protesters. One can hear the screams, the crack of the batons, and shots of some description

#Belarus
A good aerial shot of the situation around "Changes Square" in #Minsk where the 31 year old artist was murdered by police this week. Thousands trying to pay respects, view the makeshift memorial and protest.
The regime responds with more violence
#Austria is still the most #Covid19 infected nation in Europe, but it too saw its first fall in numbers for weeks.
That didn't stop Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announcing an even stricter lockdown from Tuesday when all schools will also close for two and a half weeks
