#Austria is still the most #Covid19 infected nation in Europe, but it too saw its first fall in numbers for weeks.
That didn't stop Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announcing an even stricter lockdown from Tuesday when all schools will also close for two and a half weeks
#Czechia still driving down infections
4199 new #Covid19 cases today, 7,723 last Sunday morning. Hospital & ICU patient totals also both down too
Czech Republic is another country showing the trend I've discovered where death numbers are falling within 2 weeks of peak infection
Saturday totalled 157,000 new #Covid19 cases, but that will subsequently rise - four states and some counties don't declare cases at weekends.
Last Saturday's final figure was 128,000
Incidentally Friday's record was revised up to almost 188k
#USA should see cases fall to about 140k today, but it's not a real drop, will still be well above last Sunday
I project USA will come close to 200k on Tues & Weds but it may be Thursday before the landmark is reached. #Illinois#Indiani#Michigan#Minnesota are fastest growing
A worry for #Belgium, because cases have gone back up again today
After the decision to cut testing during the lockdown, we should now be dealing with similar test numbers on similar days of the week. The underlying data looked ok, but today 6,258 #Covid19 cases vs 6124 last Sun
#Georgia looks to have broken the chain...
After breaking its national record for all but one day of the last 12, they may be reaching the peak soon.
3020 new #Covid19 infections today, nearly 500 fewer than yesterday's record and only a hundred about last Sunday
#Ukraine continues its remorseless climb: slow and steady increases almost every day
10,681 new #Covid19 cases, not a record because of the start of the weekend lag, but 10% up on last Sunday. Infection rate now 247 AD/M
#Russia reports 22,572 new #Covid19 cases - just 130 off yesterday's record.
#Armenia's data look more realistic. They continue to fall with 1,482 new cases, a third down on last Sunday. Armenia peaked 10 days ago at 700 AD/M, not infection rate is 532
#Hungary's nightmare could be over soon...
The lockdown is working with a decent drop in new #Covid19 cases from last Sunday (4238 vs 4673)
However death rates likely to remain high for another week. Today for the 3rd time, 107 deaths - matching the record.
#Slovakia slashes #Covid19 cases by a third compared to last Sunday, down to exactly 1200 from 1828 a week ago.
For the first time 22 October, Slovakia's 7 day avg infection rate is below 300 AD/M
#Poland still trying to fool everyone with its #Covid19 data
The next thing could be to start hiding testing stats 😡🤬
Superficially a fall in cases:
Today vs last Sunday
21,854 vs 24,785 but look at testing
46,600 vs 61,000 and positive test rate
46.9% vs 40.6%
#Poland had a record 548 deaths yesterday - 303 today (236 last Sunday)
Reducing testing reduces published (known) cases, but can INCREASE infection. Population becomes lax and track+trace less effective. Deaths continue to increase
I am watching #Croatia closely these days - it could go either way in terms of #Covid19 infection
Yesterday a big rise, but today there's a drop compared to last Sunday (2362 vs 2543)
Also 43 more deaths today - equalling the country's record
Seems unimportant considering what's happening in #Belarus right now, but the regime admits a new record number of #Covid19 cases today
1,315 new infections claimed by the Health Ministry and 7 deaths
#Lithuania sees a big decrease in new cases to 1,372 from 1,980 seven days ago
But both #Latvia and #Estonia are going up
Latvia has 316 new infections (215 last Sun)
Estonia 226 (192)
Both are at their highest rates of infections
#Romania had a couple of days with lowering infection numbers. Today it's back up with 7,096 new cases of #Covid19 against 6,752 last Sunday.
As with Croatia, this could go either way right now. The trend is slightly down but work to be done
#Austria seems to be getting on top of its nightmare with #Coronavirus
Figures again show a slight decrease in new #Covid19 infections, from 5,933 last Sunday to 5,665 today
What's more good levels of testing - over 60,000 and a positive test rate of under 10%
Alarming #Coronavirus trend seems to be developing in western Europe
Nations crushing the curve, suddenly see spikes in new infection rates
Latest concerns are: #Denmark 1058 new #Covid19 infections (891 last Sun)
while #Netherlands with 5,413 (vs 5,664) seems to be on the turn
One of the countries losing control again (see previous tweet) is #Portugal
For the fourth successive day new cases of #Covid19 have risen. 6,035 today compared to 5,784 last Sunday
Monday's #Coronavirus thread starts here, as we hope Europe continues to make progress against the spread of #Covid19.
All the news as it happens throughout the day but I'll particularly be watching two things
Countries heading back up again
Deaths falling 10-14 days after peak
#USA continues to surge - initial figures for Sunday not yet in (this total always increases anyway when regions which didn't report over the weekend add their data)
But one big headline came from #Florida, where the Sunshine State went back over 10,000 #Covid19 cases in a day
..it's the first time since July #Florida hit 10k, and for the last 3 months FLA has not even touched 7,000
Today #USA should experience a total of between 158,000 and 180,000 cases as it edges towards 200k in the coming days. I'm predicting 172,000 by the end of the day
In #Belarus today the usual Sunday protests, but things are sinking to a new low.
Many people have come to a provincial neighbourhood of #Minsk to pay tribute to, protest against, the brutal murder of Roman Bondarenko by police
The regime turns the memorial site into a war zone
#Belarus
Meanwhile, nearby on Pushkinskaya in central #Minsk, another attack on protesters. One can hear the screams, the crack of the batons, and shots of some description

#Belarus
A good aerial shot of the situation around "Changes Square" in #Minsk where the 31 year old artist was murdered by police this week. Thousands trying to pay respects, view the makeshift memorial and protest.
The regime responds with more violence
