Hello and welcome to an early start to the daily thread for Day 246 of #Russia's war.

Once again #Ukraine is under attack this Thursday morning, but in general air defence looks to be performing slightly better each day.

All the news, updated in real time throughout the day⬇️

Last night the wave of attack drones started entering #Ukraine air space and some missiles fired by #Russia too.

The reports of a drone hitting in #Kyiv oblast have now been confirmed.

Regional Head Oleksiy Kuleba says "The enemy attacked one of the communities of the region. The fire is being extinguished. There are no injuries."

Over 20 drones were been fired on #Ukraine - fifteen of them were shot down in #Odesa.

3 more were downed in #Mykolaiv and one of the Iranian killing machines was hit in #Vinnytsia.

#Kramatorsk has been hit by missiles.

As many as six targeted objects in the area.

It seems as though things have calmed down a little in #Ukraine.

The kitten is happy in front of the makeshift fire as the troops try to keep warm.

A lot of #Russia's drones taken down in last night's attack.

The total UAVs destroyed has increased by over 50% in the last month and a week.

Deaths a little lower but still well above the daily average and will hit 70k this weekend.

The UK update points out an interesting conundrum for #Putin - he decides to insulate himself from criticism and able to blame/sack governors if things continue to go wrong.
But it brings the war closer to #Russia's capital and the middle classes.

The Occupiers say a transformer caught fire in #Balaklava, but it was not in service at the time so no power outages and no injuries🤔

#Russia state media proudly report that police in #Berdyansk will start searching phones of locals to "check if they have subscribed to any #Ukraine propaganda channels"

Late in yesterday's thread I was reporting a big strike on fuel tankers on a railway in occupied #Donetsk.

They finally extinguished the fire at #Shakhtarsk (RU: Shakhtyorsk/Shakhtersk) in the early hours. Occupiers said 3 #HIMARS hit the station.

Well it's just happened again!

This new attack in occupied #Donetsk does have all the hallmarks of another #HIMARS strike.

Two separate plumes of thick black smoke. Fuel once again struck. It would seem #Ukraine has good intel here.

Here you can see the mess missiles made of the rails as well as the tanks of fuel.

Recently I've been reporting on summonses being handed out, seemingly at random in #Russia as mobilisation continues.

Now it's gone one step further with army call-ups given to workers at a factory in #Oryol. Fine, except many of the workers are nationals of #Uzbekistan 🤡

In four districts of the #Belgorod oblast in #Russia, emergency (wartime) measures are set to be taken.

Meetings are underway in the region which borders #Ukraine.

The ban on rallies in #StPetersburg has been extended until the end of the year at least.

The reason? #Covid19 of course!

Reports of many explosions in occupied #Kherson this evening.

Public in #Belozersky say they heard bangs sounding like missiles.

Meanwhile the invaders themselves say there've been up to a dozen blasts in #NovaKakhovka. They say air defence was working but no confirmation.

Another mass grave is discovered in liberated #Kharkiv.

#Ukraine police say 17 bodies were found so far.
Residents of #Kopanky reported their suspicions after #Russia's invaders dug a 3m trench and threw the bodies in back in April.

#Ukraine has now claimed they did hit the #Bilozerka (RU: #Belozersky) district, west of the city of Kherson.

They say 2 of #Russia's military bases and 2 warehouses were destroyed.

Earlier this week I reported #Ukraine hit one of the #Russia's bases in #Kherson occupied by a unit from #Chechnya.

Ramzan Kadyrov has just confirmed this (what no TikTok?)
He claims 23 dead and 58 injured. Ukraine estimates were of 40 deaths and 60 injured.

Fundraising helped the purchase of the British made Armtrac-400.

Early indications that blasts have occurred in the Sinelnykivsky district and in #Pavlohrad. Last night #Russia says it hit a mechanical plant in #Pavlograd, where components are made for missiles.
