At single-payer unveiling, Bernie Sanders calls up Toronto Dr. Danielle Martin, known for her 2014 Senate smackdown:
Martin cites a 2012 poll showing 94% of Canadians are proud of our health system. "Even more than ice hockey," she says to laughter.
Sanders says today is simply the beginning of a "long and difficult struggle" to end America's "disgrace" of a health system.
Sanders promises "the average American family will be much better-off financially" under single-payer.
Addressing businesspeople, Sanders notes single-payer would let them deal with business rather than worry about insuring people.
Sanders: I admit this is "complex," and I don't have "all the answers," but unlike Republicans, we'll listen to people and improve our bill.
Bernie didn't say anything about how he'd prefer to pay for single-payer; said he'll figure out the "fairest ways."
Elizabeth Warren is the first at the single-payer event to applaud Obamacare; says she wants to defend the ACA, then take "another step."
Cory Booker: I love Canada, but "it is embarrassing to me" to have a Canadian here talking about their vastly superior system.
