Josh, I’m glad you’re related to people who served our country. Let me tell you a story about the woman whose patriotism and support of the military you just questioned.
On Election Day 2006, my wife @DianaKander was volunteering for then-State Auditor @clairecmc’s campaign for US Senate. She was working in a field office, helping to coordinate teams of get-out-the-vote canvassers. 2/x
The door opened to the office and Diana looked up to see the candidate herself come in and make a beeline right for the desk where she had been organizing clipboards. 3/x
Diana and I had done some local organizing and been around her a little, but Diana would not have bet much money on Claire knowing our names.

With no cameras and no crowd, Claire gave Diana a hug, leaned in close to her and said:
“Diana, I so appreciate that you’re here helping me. I’ve been up for thirty hours straight, I don’t know which way is up, and I’m nervous as hell, but whenever I’m tempted to feel sorry for myself, I think about the fact that Jason’s over there in Afghanistan and you’re here...
“I just want to thank you both. Please give him my love.”

So here’s the deal, Josh. I’m not questioning your patriotism. I appreciate that you’re not doubting mine. But if you want to “honor my service” as you claim, don’t treat vets or soldiers as props. 5/x
And questioning the patriotism of Claire makes you look like a fool. 6/6
