Andrew McCarthy's column today nationalreview.com/2018/02/robert… touches on seedy Ukrainian politics re Mueller. He cites Yulia Tymoshenko's complaint against Dmitri Firtash for corrupt intermediation in natural gas, but fails to mention Tymoshenko's identical corruption in same trade.
2/ in 1990s, Tymoshenko & then Ukrainian PM Lazarenko involved in corrupt intermediation in natural gas through Tymo company United Energy Systems (UESU). A counterclaimant in proceeding cited by McCarthy said that Tymoshenko fraud netted $2.27 billion.

3/ the pleading by counterclaimant provides useful chronology (recognizing bias) for Tymoshenko's ill-gotten gains in 1990s through collusion with PM Lazarenko

4/ Lazarenko was charged and convicted in US courts (San Francisco) of corruption charges. US attorneys affirmed that Tymoshenko, though not charged, was "co-conspirator" in money laundering and "participant in the scheme to defraud"

5/ in other words, Tymoshenko had committed (and perhaps) originated the very frauds in natural gas and money laundering in the 1990s and early 2000s, that she now accused Firtash. Firtash, in effect, acquired her franchise in corruption.

9/ something unexpected in original Tymoshenko lawsuit given present narrative purporting to link Firtash and Mogelivych to Putin govt. When asked by Ukraine govt to deal directly with Naftogaz (thus eliminating Firtash franchise, prev held by Tymo), Putin immediately agreed
10/ but in her Amended Complaint (filed in November 2014), Tymoshenko's narrative on her 2009 deal with Putin had changed - due presumably to changed political wind in US. Putin's role in eliminating corrupt middleman Firtash written out of Tymo's history

DOJ charged @NVeselnitskaya with making a "false and misleading declaration implying" that she had not participated in drafting Russian response to US inquiry. Before looking at details, the US DOJ made false statements in indictment, including canard that Magnitsky was lawyer.
2/ @LucyKomisar, who has diligently researched Browder frauds (and others) have shown that Magnitsky was accountant for Browder firms, convicted for his role in Browder tax frauds in Russia. He was NOT heroic "lawyer" exposing fraud.
