Despite the Liberal co-opting of International Women's Day, it was and remains a SOCIALIST holiday. It was established by the international SOCIALIST movement as a critique of Liberal feminism as it existed in the early 1900s, which was largely a movement of affluent white women.
The day was originally celebrated on March 19th to commemorate the failed German Revolution of 1848. It was later changed to March 8th to commemorate the day of the February Revolution (also the day women were granted franchise for the first time in Russia).
This day is not for the Hillary Clintons, Theresa Mays, or Angela Merkels of the world.

This day is for the Ella Bakers, the Fannie Lou Hamers, the Assata Shakurs, and the Clara Zetkins.

This day is a reminder, more than any other day, that a woman's place is in the REVOLUTION.
