Quite extraordinary to watch the supposed left throw workers and immigrants under a bus because of made up objections to the single market. novaramedia.com/2018/03/09/5-r…
Let's take those 5 reasons in turn: 1) there are exemptions on state aid on several items - ie energy or universal provision.
Studies estimate only 2 labour manifesto items would require notification to Commission and both wld be expected to easily clear.
2) There is no EU rule on public ownership. In fact there is a rule specifically stating any ownership model allowable.
There are rules on bidding but state can set rules for bidding requirements ie worker rights, environmental standards. Only the most old school top down state monopoly hindered by this model.
3) is meaningless twaddle.
4) likewise. The EU does not control our international development policy.
5) is also meaningless nonsense, like watching water circle the drain.
Apart from all that though it's a great article.
