I had dinner with a vascular brain surgeon last night. She had insightful views about the importance of properly defining outcomes in outcome-based health care (eg successful procedures on people who will die anyway isn't the outcome you want to measure) 25iq.com/2018/02/23/wha…
Progress is vascular surgery now enables procedures like removing blood clot in the brain via a catheter which is inserted into an artery in the leg or arm through a small incision in the skin. No general anesthesia- the patient is awake and can talk.
Another doctor said that the equivlent a net promoter score for patients is problematic as a measured health care outcome since paitents can be dissatisfied if no procedures are ordered at an appointment. Doctors figure this out quickly and can order more to raise their score.
