I discovered through trial and error how to control a message in a large corporation.
And it all started when I was a field engineer for a company providing information to libraries.
He was difficult to work with and I was getting questions about “why” certain things were done the way they were. I never got answers, so I made up a lot of things.
This genius went against this and decided to use the “and” operator to find words within the same paragraph.
I couldn’t get an answer as to why.
It was made up. I made that part up.
Within 2 years, it was fact.
I did this with a lot of things and noticed the 2 year acceptance in many other things...
During my tenure I noticed a highly respected person I admire was depressed and found out his position was minimalized. He was platforms manager in charge of the interface. I asked for him to report to me.
Include email? Sure, the programmers were happy to write an interface 70 times.
What I did was had this manager and his team start to repeat an mantra.
THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMPANY WANTS A SINGLE USER INTERFACE.
Wound them up and sent them out with the message.
The resistance was amazing.
The din was overwhelming against it. But by repeating the mantra over and over when an objection was made, soon we had others repeating the mantra.
Truthfully this scared the hell out of me.
Germany did this.
They convinced a nation to genocide an entire race with a repeated mantra.
Even tho I used it for good, I saw firsthand how this works.
“Do something” gun control.
Is the perfect example of an oft repeated mantra that pops up with each school shooting.
So we must be diligent and make sure the 2 year rule for acceptance does not occur.
