So, no joke or bullshit, the Revolutionary War was kicked off by the British attempting arms control. See, I was studying history in school over a decade ago, and I was NEVER taught anything about how the British were trying to seize powder stores, why militias had cannons, etc.
Christ. That puts the 2nd Amendment under a whole new context. The entire POINT of the 2nd Amendment was to make sure every household was armed, and to preemptively disallow the federal government from trying to disarm them like the British attempted.
Their concept of militias included having cannons to be on par with army regulars.... this means... I SHOULD HAVE A GODDAMN M1-A1 ABRAMS TANK IN MY BACKYARD! Or at least one collectively maintained by me and my neighbors.
I have gone full libertarian now.
