THREAD: It's time to spotlight who I'm running against. The primary is 55 days away, & @SteveKnight25 needs a turn under the microscope. Let's look at the Rep who called California's climate change preparations foolish. 1/

Knight's legislative accomplishments are scarce, & that shows in that his reputation in DC is for being good at golf. He's the 2nd best golfer in Congress, & 11th out of all DC political folks. Still, we need to talk about his voting record. 2/
golfdigest.com/story/washingt…
In just his 2nd term in Congress, Knight's voted with @realDonaldTrump 98.6% of the time. (Side note: our district voted for @HillaryClinton by ~7%.) He's voted in favor of policies that benefit the wealthy 92.6% of the time, while voting for the middle class 7.4% of the time. 3/
Along those lines, he votes in favor of big business 100% of the time, including voting to allow businesses to have more control over the @CFPB (the org designed to protect consumers from harmful big business practices). He voted against the independence of regulators, too. 4/
On the other end of the spectrum, Knight voted against school dropout prevention & to allow funding cuts to high poverty schools. He's also voted in favor of cutting funding to programs designed to ease/reduce poverty. Of course, he voted for the $1.5T GOP corporate tax cuts. 5/
Knight makes a big deal out of supporting veterans, but he voted to restrict pay to @DeptVetAffairs employees while they engage in organizing activities. He's also blocked consideration of the Paycheck Fairness Act, which extends the protections of the Equal Pay Act of 1963. 6/
He's never voted to tax the wealthy, or for any kind of gun reforms (& he takes money from the @NRA & has an A rating from them), or in favor of humane immigration policies, or to protect consumers. He is bought and paid for by so many corporate interests it's ridiculous. 7/
Now, on to the big reason I decided to run to replace Knight. He sits on the House Science Committee & yet has never once voted to protect the environment. The @LCVoters has given him a lifetime score of 0%. Good science will tell you that we must protect the environment. 8/
In an effort to cover himself, he recently joined the Climate Solutions Caucus in the House. This means he's a "climate peacock." He's dressing fancy, but we know damn well he's the furthest thing from a climate hawk there is. He's a 19th century guy in a 21st century world. 9/
Did I mention that he voted for Trumpcare? To get rid of the ACA? To prevent wildfire, earthquake, and other disaster victims from deducting expenses on their taxes? You heard about the California wildfires, I bet. This man is supposed to represent our district! We had fires! 10/
He hasn't had a town hall in months, & hides behind "Tele Town Halls." He's the epitome of what's wrong w/politics. He's not working for us. He's owned by big business & he sold out to Trump. With Ryan retiring, he'll be well-funded in a desperate attempt to keep the seat. 11/
Knight needs to be shown the door. Let's replace a poor-performing climate denier with an actual scientist. I believe we can #FlipTheHouse. I believe we can bring science to government. I believe we can get Knight out. Let's do this.
