So about this NMA vs JOHESU thingy............ first of all, you should know both associations are fighting for their personal interest, not for a better healthcare.

Disclaimer: I'm a pharmacist

A thread
Let me start by telling you the privilege a doctor has once he finished a 4-year residency program.:
1. He is equivalent to a PhD if he is in academics, he can become a professor without even having a masters.
2. He becomes an assistant director in the civil service
3. They are the management in each and every hospital in the land.

Now this privileges that the doctors enjoy, it's what JOHESU are fighting for (not better health care) and it's what NMA want to be exclusively enjoying because they spent one extra year in school.
Example, my friend @mustysaddiq who is a lab scientist and already in the civil service and has a lil brother who just finished medical school. Now if that lil brother will join civil service, in the next 6 years, he will outrank his big bro who was working years before him.
I am a believer of teamwork in healthcare, and in every team, there is a leader, which I believe Drs are. I dunno for other professions, but in pharmacy, our job is help the doctor get the best medication for the patients.
Haven said that, it doesn't mean pharmacists are less important cause they are the expert in drugs and their expert opinion is needed for the Dr to make the best decision on the patient.
I remember when I was a bloody intern during a call, I ask a resident Dr, to justify one prescription, her only response is that is what the consultant does. My job is just to explain my scientific argument, but in the end, she makes the final call.
Lemme summarise NMA's argument by analogy, Given that Cristiano Ronaldo is the most important player in Realmadrid, he should be the captain ahead of Sergio Ramos and Marcelo regardless of their importance to the team.
Personally as I pharmacist, Nigerian healthcare system is too messy and full of ego for me to work in it. I just hope one day, the government will have the political will to reform the health care system and pass a bill to make it illegal for health workers ro strike.
