Early on, Trump suggested the idea of Erik Prince's Blackwater taking over $10B of the budget for the Afghan war. It didn't get far. That was his first attempt at setting up his own private military funded by taxpayers. He will not give up until he is stopped. He must be stopped.

Think for a moment what harm could be done with $10B in the wrong hands. Trump knows he can lie with impunity, & despite being shut down a year ago, he continues to try to establish his own private intel & military. Either a private intel or private military would be horrific.
Fortunately, Mattis, among others, nixed the idea. I suspect Bannon and Mercer (Prince's bro-in-law) were highly supportive, if not behind the idea.
Think also of all the graft that could ensue from $10B controlled by the wrong people. Trump, Mercer, and Prince, and who knows who else, (others in the GOP, Russia, Qataris, contractors w/ kickbacks?), all stood to gain if this effort came to pass.
