Waiting for dinner to come out so let’s talk about evaluating your progress

I’m repeating myself, but everything starts with vision

When you don’t know what you should be doing RIGHT NOW it’s because your vision isn’t clear

If you don’t know which of the 5 online projects you have in your head should be your priority, your vision isn’t clear

If you don’t know if the business you’re working on is a waste of time, you vision isn’t clear

Once your vision becomes clear, these decisions get easier

My suggestion is to open up Google Docs, Evernote or a notebook and start writing this all down

What do you want your life to look like at 30? 40? 50? 60? 70? 80?

Where will you live?

Will you be a bachelor or have 5 kids?

How much money is this going to cost?

You need to go through all the main areas of your life:

- Business
- Money
- Family
- Health
- Hobbies

What does your business need to look like in 5 years for you to feel fulfilled?

What about your fitness goals when you’re in your 60s?

Write it all out

If you know that at age 40 you want to live in Thailand and have a wife and 2 kids and want to work 20 hours a week while spending the rest of the time writing novels... and you need $20K a month for this lifestyle..

Isn’t the picture I painted relatively clear?

So if that’s your vision (and it should actually be much more specific) and you know your target monthly revenue at age 40 is $20k...

And you’re currently 31 and making $2,500 a month online..

What needs to change?

Think about it

Write it down

This is a daily and weekly exercise for me

You need to constantly look to the future so you can maximize everything you’re doing now in the present

This will save you time and keep you on track

Figure out what that future looks like and work backwards

Less than 5 years from now I want to have conversational fluency in Portuguese, Russian and French

Knowing this, what needs to happen?

We all know total immersion speeds up learning, so I’m looking into moving to Florianópolis, Brazil later this year for at least a month

Do you see how I took a future goal and turned it into something that goes on my calendar and To Do List?

This is purposeful living

It’s the same process with financial goals

I want to have a net worth of $10 million in the next 10 years (or less)

Knowing this, how much do I need to earn, save and invest each year to hit that goal?

And will my current business model get me there?

Run the numbers

Nothing ever happens exactly as planned, but going through this exercise will help you, at the very least, avoid and eliminate distractions and help you say NO to the things that definitely won’t support your goals

Just cutting all the unnecessary crap will give you clarity
