Ok, imma explain this one time for all the TRAs in the back:
Comparing black women to males is racist even in the name of “progressivism”, stop using us as props in your braindead arguments already.
Black women have been likened and compared to males for CENTURIES as a way to dehumanize us, to portray us as hyper masculine and unfeeling beasts of burden. This lil “simile” comes all the way from the plantation.
Womanhood, especially BLACK womanhood, is not an identity or feeling. It is a biological reality that was the basis on which my foremothers were raped and forced to bear children like factory farm cattle.
Genderist ideology is doubly dangerous to black women in this way. When you reduce womanhood to feelings, or an identity to opt in and out of, you are saying that the victims of that J Marion Sims bastard must’ve “identified” into the sadism he subjected them to.
Those women did NOT. That man didn’t cut open “feelings” or “identities”; he butchered the female organs belonging to black females selected for gynecological experiments because of their black FEMALE bodies.
When you reduce womanhood to a feeling, you are insinuating that I am “identifying” with the sky-high maternal mortality rate attached to African American women.
Genderist ideology is doubly dangerous to black women because it erases our doubly dangerous reality: we are female human beings of African heritage, subjected to such mistreatment because of both our race and our sex.
In addition to this, to add insult to injury, the modern trans movement has co-opted and appropriated the theory of #intersectionality from #blackfeminism, a term which was coined by scholar @sandylocks to describe how sex-based oppression is compounded thru our race.
When you reduce womanhood to an identity, you’re saying that all the women and girls back in my country, Dominica 🇩🇲, where abortion is still fully criminalized, are “identifying” into being stripped of their bodily autonomy.
When you say that we can’t “center reproductive systems” at WOMEN’S events, you are silencing us AA women from speaking about our high-ass abortion and maternal mortality rates. All to stoke your fragile ass ego. That’s how much black TIMs care about their “cis-ters” 🙃.
The only way we black women can make sense of our oppression by is understanding the roots of BOTH: females are a sex class subjugated globally by males to be exploited for our sexual and reproductive labor. Black ppl are a racial class subjugated by white ppl to get free labor.
It honestly breaks my heart how many other self-proclaimed black “feminists” are buying into this fuckshit. I suppose it’s because as black women, we are expected to mammy the entire damn world. 🙄
Notice how @serenawilliams and @Venuseswilliams are mocked as “the Williams brothers” for being strong black women. Muscular white women are also subjected to the same ridicule, but it takes on a racialized slant when this rhetoric is directed at a black female.
