I've opened the dreaded letter from my energy provider confirming price increases. My #energybill has risen from £116 to £290 a month. My other bills are on the rise & I've really been feeling the pinch in the supermarket. I'm more & more worried for all of us #energyprices 1/5
How are people expected to survive, let alone live? How can your average low income person/household afford this at all when I'm worrying myself, as a medium income person? If other countries can cap it at 4%, then why can't the UK? 2/5
Having been on a low income before, for many years, I know for many people/households, there's nothing left to cut back on. If this was 15 years ago, I'd be starving myself to feed my kid, getting a 2nd or even 3rd job or getting into more debt - probably all three 3/5

Peeps #energyprices

EVERYONE needs to take gas/electricity meter readings on March 31st. Regardless of what type of meter you have, smart or otherwise. Ideally a photo of both meters showing the readings & meter serial number.
Submit meter reading to your energy supplier ASAP If for whatever reason you can't submit that day have photos as evidence of meter readings & date they were taken Its going to be a busy day for suppliers & you might not be able to submit readings that day
Why does everyone need to do this?

As most people now know, on 1st April 2022, the new OFGEM energy price cap comes into force. This means much higher energy rates for millions of people.

tweeps, just got in from work, shit just got real....... Mum's in tears.....

standing charge also doubled
two further things to note,

the letter also warns that their bill will increase *the the same percentage* in October, ie: to £6,600

the doubling of standing charges is, according to Martin Lewis, to *cover the cost of the companies which went bankrupt*

and I have a question
how the hell are businesses going to cope, expenditure will feed back in to price rises across the board, including food.

Also: what about old peoples' homes??????

there is no cap for business.....

The 5-year contract which was signed in 2019 foresees the transit volumes of 40 bcm in 2021, which amounts to 109 mcm/day.
It is deeply alarming 🚨 and quite informative to note that Gazprom is now paying for capacity and not using it!
Since the beginning of the month, Gazprom is shipping 86 mcm/day which is ~25% less than what it's paying for. There is a great disconnect between the words and the actions when it comes to the role of the Russian Federation in the European gas crunch.
