Do you have one spanking fetish that you have always wanted fulfilled? And if yes, is it easily fulfilled or too deep?

This question surprised me because of how simple and insightful it was. And because it was the first time I'd even been asked this question, even from myself.
Many of us have one or two big fantasies or desires that, for whatever reason, we cannot easily fulfil. Maybe it's about waiting for the right person or group of people. Maybe it's needing to develop some technical skill.
Maybe it's something that's frowned upon by their culture or family or religion or whatever. My hope for these people is that their fantasies get realised, because it must be torture to live with such an unrequited need.

1. Thread on Illuminati Symbols - for those not familiar with it, perhaps look on it as a pictorial language that when you learn it, reveals hidden messages. First post is the Illuminati Ball 2018 in New York… #Illuminati #IlluminatiSymbols #Rothschild
2. Lets jump to the 2014 American Music Awards Littered With Illuminati Symbolism. Take a look and a read… #Illuminati #IlluminatiSymbolism #HollywoodSymbols #TaylorSwift, #IggyAzalea #JenniferLopez #Fergie #JLo
3. Now it gets more sinister as we delve into an example of mind control symbolism - Ariana Grande’s “No Tears Left to Cry”: Blatant Monarch Mind Control Symbolism… #MindControl #ArianaGrande #Illuminati #IlluminatiSymbolism #HollywoodSymbols #Ariana

It's been a little spell since I was able to do a #20TweetTales thread, but I'm glad to be back at it. Today's story is inspired by Joe Hill's fantastic piece, Glacier.

First as a child and now as an adult, Thessa heard the Prophet's words in her head. "And lo, the Ice Dagger in the heart of fire will melt, only then shall the Ratha Lands be reborn. But with the rebirth, shall also come death."

Her knuckles turned white with strain on the pommel of her sword. Since that first time, she'd traveled thousands of leagues, through the Dead Empire and across the Sands of Purgatory. She'd even crossed the supposedly Endless Sea.

A thread on doing the #PhD you love regardless of what’s “trendy” or “canonical”. #phdchat
Mine was on J.R.R. #Tolkien, nearly 15 years ago. I had an amazing supervisor who was nearly taught philology by #Tolkien at Oxford (he missed him by a year!) My thesis became this book:
What got me thinking about this was this blog post by friend and #Tolkien scholar John D. Rateliff, best known from the 2-volume History of the Hobbit (an edition of all Hobbit manuscripts with notes):…
As you will see, back in the 1980s John was not allowed to do his #PhD on the emergence of fantasy as a literary genre (which would have focused on #Tolkien’s key role). The reason he was given was that it would be:

If you were a journo or opinion editor trying to get better at reporting on #climate & #energy, what questions would you be asking?

@KetanJ0 @TennantReed @simonahac @dylanjmcconnell @craigmemery @SimonCorbell @OBenPotter @1MarijaPetkovic @miriamlyons
1/ If the article/writer claims a certain cost of acting on climate, does it also make claims about the cost of not acting on climate?
2/ If there are claims made about industry moving off shore, where will the industry go (since the majority of the world is acting on climate)?

We are just about to begin our first open research seminar of the year with world-renowned expert on fantasy fiction with professor Brian Attebury - first important matter is deciding how we're going to be pronouncing #anthropocene...
#Fantasy is more than just escapist nostalgia - Brian Attebury takes us back to Gilgamesh to explore how fantasy helps us convey the realities of our current reality
"Civilized man says I am self, I am master, all the rest is other": Brian Attebery employs #UrsulaKLeGuin to explore the myths of the anthropocene and the single story

Last year, I did a questionnaire focusing on Black women and science fiction. I haven't written much on it, and I couldn't figure out why until today. Today, I walk back and share the comments. #reclaimingmytime #phdchat #AcademicTwitter #blerd
Most of the responses were soooo valuable, and I know that #Blackgirlnerds are everywhere across the globe based on the 300+ responses that I received. But... there were a couple that I couldn't deal with at the time.
To keep these together, I'll use #NerdingWhileBlack ... I think it's appropriate when I think about all the times that people have been amazed that I read sci-fi and fantasy and watch anime consistently. I also think it fits since being a #nerd has often been raced as White.

Hey author people maybe dunking on your cover artists isn't the best way to use a social media platform but what do I know right #TerryGoodkind #Fantasy
Like I can't even afford to commission cover art because 1.) I'm a grad student and 2.) I know good art costs good money. It's one of my goals to be able to do that though. But being that dismissive of something paid for by the publisher is just unbelievably petty.
Plus I use public domain, commercial-use available art that I like for my covers so it's not like I'm about to start tearing it down on Twitter like "oh yeah I get it Rembrandt you like brown oooooh". Such silliness.
