On the cccasion of Devi #Navaratri thread on the Shakti Peethams in Telugu states. The 4 Peethams are at Draksharama, Pithapuram, Srisailam in AP and Alampur in TG.
As per the Puranas, when Sati died, a grief stricken Shiva, carried her body, performing the Tandava in anger. When the gods implored Vishnu to save the world from Shiva's wrath, he cut Sati's corpse into pieces with his Sudarshana Chakra
The places where parts of Sati's corpse fell on earth are considered as Shakti Peethas, sanctified by the holy presence of Devi Maa. There are around 51 Shakti Peetha of which 38 are in India, while Bangladesh has 5, Nepal 3, Pakistan 2, and Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Tibet 1 each.

This is #Navaratri / #Dasara.

For long & even today, Dasara is synonymous with #Mysore. It is also the nADa-habba - the State Festival of Karnataka.

Dasara as the State Festival are a contribution of the #Wodeyar dynasty.

“May they prosper forever” - the Yadukula Santana.

+
Vijayadashami as a Festival has a very long history. Many classical texts trace it back to Mahabharata, although the Vyasa Bharata does not say anything. It, of course, goes back to Ramayana.

In the Classical era & subsequently in the preBritish references are galore.

+
The Vijayanagar Kings made Vijayadashami - Dasara a very big event, which is recorded by many travellers.

But its the Wodeyars alone who carried this festival to the Modern times. They transformed a cultural/religious event into a State/Civilizational Festival.

In Bengaluru alone 4lakh animals are killed on Eid which incl 10,000 large animals -cattle & camels generating 300 tons of animal waste which is buried in pits near Kogilu on cityoutskirts🚩
2. For 14 lakh Peacefullls in Bengaluru - 4 lakh animals are killed.
Even if 1 animal weighs 10 kg then can an average person eat 3 kg meat on single day ?
And mind you this includes kids& infants also. So most of the meat goes waste..🚩
3. If you conflate this number to whole of India-then imagine the number of animals killed on that single day ?
For 200 millon it must be at least 20 millon animals
& 200 millon kgs of meat & staggering 8 billon kgs of Green House gases & Carbon dioxide 🚩

Circa 2012 this is.
While i absolutely love my corporate work, i totally miss class & dancing.
The best thing i ever did was moving to Shri Shijith Nambiar (Anna) and Smt Parvathy Menon (Akka), alumni of Kalakshetra for advance learning .
They gave me an opportunity to savour that Baani , something that ive always admired and watched since childhood, due to family association.
Today when i look back, the period of training under them was a major factor in shaping my attitude towards a lot of things in life.
From time management, to deep concentration, whatever i practiced then with caution, has become instrinc to me now.
Must say, i was a troublesome student , a late teen - early 20s girl, used to get nicely scolded by both of them !

Those who decry Goddess worship in the name of crimes against women....

Their real objective is for the worship to stop and crimes to continue.

Otherwise they would take the opportunity to promote Goddess worship in order yo discourage crime.
#Navaratri
Remember, India is the only place and Hinduism is the only civilisation that has Devi worship.

It is considered satanical by some misogynist religions. The so called progressives stand with religious misogyny today and are trying to guilt this very population+
+who took to streets after the horrific Norbhaya incident.

They are the same tribe that asks for mercy petition for rapists.

They are those who celebrate Mahishasura as some leader and call our Durga a prostitute.

They celebrate crime in this country. They celebrate peril.
