So remember when Trump campaigned as an LGBT ally? We decided to take a look at all the anti-LGBT actions Trump's administration has taken so far.
Buckle up. Let's get started.

1. Many LGBT rights the Trump administration has rolled back target transgender people specifically.
In October, Jeff Sessions said it was legal to fire workers for being trans (federal courts have disputed this.)

2. In July 2017, Trump announced a ban on trans people serving in the military.
Four courts have since blocked his ban, but the Justice Department is still fighting to enact it and the Pentagon issued recommendations on how to fully implement the policy.

3. The Trump administration is making transgender female prisoners live with male prisoners, reversing efforts to protect trans people in prison from sexual assault.
But how do officials determine who is trans? They won't say.

4. The Justice Department dropped its lawsuit challenging North Carolina's anti-transgender "bathroom bill.”

5. After a judge blocked the Obama administration's protections for transgender patients and women seeking abortions, the Trump administration stopped defending the rules.

6. And then, it created a civil rights office to protect healthcare workers who won't treat trans patients or perform abortions because of moral or religious objections.

7. Whew. Take a breath; we’re halfway there. Weeks after taking office, the Trump administration withdrew Title IX protections for trans students.

8. And in April 2018, the Department of Education began refusing to take any action on anti-transgender discrimination complaints from students.

9. The Justice Department has also tried to argue that it's legal to fire someone for being gay (a court has since ruled in favor of gay rights, but the administration still hasn’t reversed its stance that this is legal under federal law.)

10. The Trump administration argued in the Supreme Court Christian baker case (which the federal government was not party to) that shopkeepers should be allowed to turn away LGBT customers.

11. Jeff Sessions issued a broad, yet vague memo on religious liberty and then refused to address serious concerns that the guidance would give federal workers and contractors a loophole to ignore bans on discrimination against women and LGBT people.

12. The Trump administration retracted a proposal to collect demographic info — needed to craft health and safety policy, among other things — about LGBT people in the Census.
(We recently ran a major poll that sheds light on some unanswered questions)

13. And the Trump administration declined to appoint a White House LGBT liaison, a position that advocates for the community and consults on policy issues. The last LGBT liaison under Obama was afraid this would happen.

That's the end of the list — so far.
It's also the end of Pride Month, and Trump still hasn't issued a statement. Last June, we asked the White House every single day if Trump would recognize Pride Month.
(Spoiler alert: he didn't.)

Anyway. If you need some LGBT love after all this, we leave you with the loudest and proudest moments from Pride this year 💜
