If you think about a future world where it looks really really bad for the NRA, like it's very plausible to most of the public that they laundered Russian money for the 2016 campaign, and then think about a Kavanaugh SCOTUS making a major pro-gun decision....
... you can see where things might escalate. Maybe Kavanaugh stays on the court, but the taint is enough to just have the country ignoring SCOTUS for a decade or two. I has happened before. The court's power waxes and wanes.
Or, this SCOTUS-packing scheme being seriously floated gets real traction, because hey, it's clear to most of the country that the NRA's SCOTUS pick is not legit.
Anyway, I have long wanted to see a major leadership change at the org, but to have it this way could be pretty bad for 2A rights in a number of plausible scenarios.
