True? False? I know this isn't a proper survey, but Turkey's easy to find on a map: distinctive shape, you *can't miss it* if you can find Eurasia, the Mediterranean, and the Black Sea. Bet you (at least) every member of the armed forces--and anyone who likes maps--can find it.
I'm genuinely curious. How many Americans--not Turkish-Americans or specialists of some kind--know where Turkey is on the map? I'd guess the number's *much* higher than, say, Ukraine. It's just an easy ones, map-wise.
I too tend to get confused by unlabeled maps, but some are super-easy: Italy, South Africa, Spain, Portugal, Turkey -- they're distinctive. Kyrgyzstan, however ... that's hard to place on a map.
